Fascinating Daylilies

Welcome to my daylily site. My passion for daylilies startet approximately 7 years ago. In the meantime my collection of daylilies grew to about 270 named cultivars - many new introductions of US hybridizers - and over 1000 seedlings. Currently the space in my garden is the limiting factor for purchasing new daylilies. Each year I plan not to buy new daylilies but with the many new introductions it is difficult to withstand. The first sign of addiction?

With this few pages I tried to describe my daylily collection using my own pictures. In menu entry "Daylilies" you can find pictures of named cultivars; im menu "Seedlings" please find picture of some seedlings of the recent years.

Our lot has a size of approximately 630 sqm and is situated in a housing estate in the north eastern part of the county of Dachau (USDA plant hardiness zone 6b). Our soil is predominantely heavy and loamy.

The picture to the right shows the potted cultivar "Crimson Pirate". It documents the experiment to cultivate an older daylily cultivar as a pot plant. It already survived two winters without any problems.

In our hardiness zone it makes only sense to grow the seedling either in a heated greenhouse or inside the home. The picture to the left shoes the seedlings ready for planting outside in the spring. Further information on daylily hybridizing you can find in the menu entry "General Links".
